Board Commendations January 24, 2012
Administrators and Teachers – Institute Day Activities – Derek Straight asked the Board to join with him in commending our teachers and administrators for their efforts during the recent institute day activities. He noted to the Board that the day that the day focused on differentiation of instruction and that teachers were split into groups so they had the opportunity to access the tools that were being recommended for their classrooms.
JHS Guidance Department – Orientation Activities – The Board joined with Kevin Shelton in commending Kim Ault, Colleen Joyce, Chris Ziebel and Donna Jakus for the fine job they did with organizing the various orientation activities. He reminded the Board that this is the time of year when the High School Guidance Department has the task of communicating a great deal of information regarding next year’s scheduling to, not only the High School students and their parents, but also to the 8th grade students and parents.
Liz Foydl – Junior High Honors Breakfasts – Eric Dohrmann asked the Board to join with him in commending Junior High Food Service Manager, Liz Foydl, for her extra efforts involved with the quarterly honor roll breakfasts. He noted that Liz comes in early on those days to prepare the food, serve the breakfast and clean up afterward to ensure that the kitchen is ready for the regular school day.
Eighth Grade Washington DC Trip – Nancy Hurckes asked the Board to join with her in commending Kathy Ort for arranging the recent annual Eighth Grade Washington D.C. trip, as well as Kolin Harbecke, Sandra Saylor, Nate Thomas and Brad Winn for assisting her with the chaperoning duties. She noted the trip was very successful and that it was a great learning experience for the 48 students who participated.
1st – 4th Grade Skating Party – The Board joined with me in commending the PTO for organizing the recent skating party for our 1st – 4th grade students. I noted that, in spite of the snowy weather that occurred that evening, the event was an enjoyable activity for those younger students that attended and we appreciate the PTO providing these types of opportunities for that age group.
