Illinois State Scholars – Kevin Shelton asked the Board to join with him in commending the twenty Johnsburg High School students who were named as Illinois State Scholars. He noted that the Illinois Student Assistance Commission selected the students at the end of their junior year on the basis of their test scores and class rank. The Board commended the students for their academic achievements.

Sue Childress and the Johnsburg Junior High Choir – Cathy Neiss and Melanie Junge asked the Board to join with them in commending Sue Childress and the Johnsburg Junior High Choir for the wonderful assemblies they performed for the Ringwood and Bush students prior to the winter break. They noted that the students at both schools really enjoyed the performance and the Junior High students did a great job entertaining their young audience.

JHS Drama Students – Illinois Theatre Fest – The Board joined with Kevin Shelton in commending the High School drama students involved in the all-state production of Arsenic and Old Lace, which was performed at this year’s Illinois Theatre Fest. He noted that the play was selected for this year’s Theatre Fest, which also includes training sessions for the students. The performance of Arsenic and Old Lace was sold out and the students received a standing ovation for their efforts. Kevin also reported to the Board that several drama students asked him to express their appreciation of the Board’s continuing support of the drama program.
