Elise Heiser and Mitch Kasprzyk – IMEA Music Festival – Kevin Shelton asked the Board to join with him in commending students, Elise Heiser and Mitch Kasprzyk, for being chosen to represent the High School at the recent IMEA Music Festival that was held at New Trier High School.  He noted that both students are top performers in the music program and it is a great honor for them to be selected for the prestigious event.  Kevin introduced Elise to the Board and Vice-President Scott Rowe presented her with a certificate and district frisbee.

Holiday Music Concerts – I asked the Board to join with me in commending our music staff and students for the wonderful holiday musical performances held recently as well as those that are coming up.  I noted that the parents should also be commended for helping their students with the time commitment that is required and for supporting the music program by attending the concerts.  The Board commented on the large crowds that are always seen at the events.

Madrigal Dinner – The Board joined with me in commending High School choir director, David Smith, and the Madrigal Singers for their efforts involved in the Madrigal Dinner, which took place on December 10th and 11th.  The Board also commended Ruth Strohfeldt, Laura Smid and their staff for preparing and serving the meal at the Madrigal Dinner.  I encouraged anyone on the Board who has never attended the event to try to see it in the future, as it is truly a special event where the audience is treated to wonderful entertainment from the students and a fine meal as well.

PTO Winter Wonderland and Santa’s Secret Shop  – I asked the Board to join with me in commending the PTO and all the volunteer parents who helped with the successful Winter Wonderland and Santa’s Secret Shop event that was held on Saturday, December 3rd.  I noted to the Board that there were an extremely large number of people at the event, which included a variety of vendors and activities for the students as well as a performance by the Madrigal Singers. The Board also commended staff members, Shari Thatcher, Kim Noonan and Doretta Miedzianowski, for the excellent assistance they provided with preparing and serving the food for the event.
