Board Commendations August 23, 2011
Back-to-School Efforts
• Maintenance Staff and Building Custodians – The Board joined with me and the building principals in commending our maintenance and custodial staffs for the fine job they did over the summer to improve both the inside and outside of the buildings and ensure that they were ready for the beginning of the school year. I encouraged the Board to take time to visit the schools to see for themselves the results of their hard work.
• Building Secretaries and Clerical Staffs – I also asked the Board to join with me in commending the building secretaries and clerical staff for doing a fabulous job with the countless duties they are responsible for completing prior to the start of the year. I noted to the Board that we also appreciate their extra efforts involved with dealing with all of the parent questions and issues that are brought to them.
• Transportation Department – The Board joined with me in commending Robbin Pierce and Donna Jansen for all of their extra efforts involved with the implementation of the new Versatran transportation software. I noted that both Robbin and Donna worked extensively with R.J. Gravel to familiarize themselves with the software and get the bus routes all ready to go for the first day of school. Although implementing the software was a time consuming project, we are looking forward to the many advantages that we will be able to utilize with the system.
• LINK Program – Freshmen Orientation/Activity Night – Kevin Shelton asked the Board to join with him in commending LINK Coordinators, Colleen Joyce and Jennifer Neri for their fine efforts with the program, which has proved very successful in helping the new freshmen transition to the High School. He noted that they did a fabulous job of organizing the recent very successful Freshmen Orientation/Activity Night.
R.J. Gravel and Tom Schwartz – I asked the Board to join with me in commending R.J. Gravel and Tom Schwartz for the tremendous amount of work they did over the summer installing new equipment, servicing existing equipment and getting all of the technology areas up to speed to make sure everything would be up and running for the first day of school.
